Brush Creek Elementary welcomes volunteers in many fashions! Whether you hope to help in the classrooms during the school day, assist at PTO events, book fairs, Santa Shoppe, or hope to chaperone a field trip, we are excited that you want to be involved and appreciate your help. All volunteers must complete a volunteer application each year undergoing a background screening. Applications must be approved prior to volunteering. Please request an application. Currently, we are looking for 4 parent volunteers for our Kids Discovery Mobile Factory event from 7:30 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. on September 29. Call Mrs. Likens for more information.
Indiana's public and charter schools must meet requirements to identify, as early as possible, struggling readers who show risk factors for dyslexia and then provide systematic, sequential, and multisensory instruction to meet their needs.
All K–2 students will undergo a universal screener to check their skills in six different areas. These areas are: phonological and phonemic awareness (ability to separate and change sounds in words), alphabetic knowledge (naming different letters), sound-symbol relationship (phonics), decoding (reading), rapid naming (quickly name common objects), and encoding (spelling).
Students who fall below a set score, or benchmark, on the universal screener will be found "at some risk" for the characteristics of dyslexia. If you do not want your child to participate in the universal screener, please contact Mrs. Likens.
The Brush Creek Elementary PTO is partnering with Papa John's Pizza for an ongoing fundraiser. Just use the promo code BRUSHCREEK30 to get 30% off your entire order online. 10% of the profits will benefit our school. This promo code will not expire. You will be informed if it will be cancelled. We hope to use this promo code for a long time to come!
We have a few 2022–2023 yearbooks left if you still need to purchase one. They are $22, and you can pay cash or check made out to Brush Creek Elementary.
Help your child succeed in school, and please help us make positive school attendance a priority! Chronic absenteeism is defined by the state as missing ten or more school days, excused or unexcused. Let's reduce our chronic absentee rate together. Any time a student is absent, it is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to call the school and report the reason for the student's absence. The number to call is (812) 458-6582. You may leave a voice message if calling before 7:30 a.m. Let's work together to make it a great year!
